Self-Love September

We have [unofficially] declared it the month of self-love, and while every month should be all about you, sometimes life gets busy and we neglect our own needs and wants.⁠

So – declare it a month of love to YOU! Take note of what your heart desires and don’t forget to treat yo’ self!⁠ We’ve included a few tips below to get you going 🙂

And remember, life is supposed to be FUN!⁠

  • Did you know a 60-minute massage has the same relaxing effect on the body as a 7-hour sleep? ⁠🤷🏽#whoknew
  • Do you love to write? Draw? Play music? ⁠ Take an hour this week to do something creative you love. Even if that means putting on your favourite childhood album and dancing like a kid again
  • Cut down the ever-growing to-do list and focus on essential-only tasks. ⁠ This is a wonderful way to ease into your week, while also boosting your #mondaymotivation as you check things off. ⁠✅⁠
  • Have you been wanting to be a bit more selective when it comes to certain commitments but fear you may hurt some feelings? Consider making “personal policies”: rules you set up to preserve your time and energy. This minimizes decision fatigue, eliminates any possible feelings of guilt and having to explain yourself, and prioritizes your needs first.
  • Dinner and a movie? ⁠ Paint night? ⁠A walk on the beach? ⁠ Whatever it is you love to do on a date, do it with yourself! Who better to enjoy a night out doing something you love than YOU!
  • Appreciate what you have, where you are, and who you are with in this moment⁠ ⁠ …even if that’s just yourself!
  • Our days are often filled with ‘shoulds’ and it can lead to exhaustion, resentment, and overwhelm. We want to be accommodating and helpful – to be seen as a stellar employee, doting partner, helpful friend, but we tend to overdo it. We don’t want to disappoint anyone, but when you say yes to something you don’t want to do, you are actually saying no to yourself.
  • The Chef is in the house! Get out those pots and pans (or open UberEATS – we don’t judge). Whatever it is you LOVE to eat, go for it!
  • Stillness. Quiet. Solitude. Nature teaches us so much about life. It puts our worries and fears into perspective and shows us the beauty and importance of balance and patience. “A walk in nature walks the soul back home” — Mary Davis
  • Sleep is SO important. It is physically, mentally, and emotionally restorative. Sleep specialists claim that losing 90 mins of sleep at night is the equivalent to downing a pint of beer and heading to work. Make the deliberate choice to say no to another episode, power down all social media, meditate, and hit the sheets!
